Marauders drop season opener to Jefferson

PHILIDEPHIA, Pa. – The Millersville women's soccer team (0-1) opened its 2022 season on Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 road loss to Thomas Jefferson University (1-1). The Rams are three-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champions and were chosen as unanimous favorites to finish atop the CACC in 2022, while 'Ville was chosen to finish fourth in a tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East division.

Jefferson's first score of the afternoon came off a mistake in the Marauders' box. The Rams centered a ball from the right side and a clear attempt by 'Ville ended up misfiring over the head of Reagan Kolinski and into the goal.

Jefferson didn't slow down its offensive attack after the Marauders' own goal, scoring two more goals in the next 14 minutes to take a 3-0 advantage over Millersville midway through half number one.

The Marauders were able to cut the Rams' lead to just two with roughly 23 minutes left in play, as Savannah Rennix chipped a ball over the Jefferson keeper and into the net. Skylar Little picked up an assist on the score. However, Jefferson would go on to score three more goals in the final 20 minutes of action, resulting in its five-goal victory.
