PSAC Championship Day One: Woelfling sets record in hammer throw

Marauders tied for first place after day one

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University track and field team kicked off the PSAC Championship Meet with a pair of medals in the hammer throw, dominating the first throwing event of the conference championship.
 
Hannah Woelfling placed first with a distance of 199-11, good for a new PSAC Championship record. She hit the distance on her third throw and surpassed 190-0 in four of her six attempts. The previous championship record of 194-0 was set by Sunflower Greene in 2019. Woelflings distance is the second furthest throw in program history.
 
Aliyah Striver took second place with a distance of 178-7, which came on her second attempt. Cassie Sharrow followed in ninth (151-0) and Maddy Downs took thirteenth (148-4). Both of which were season best distances. Kandice Liebl rounded out the group with a 23rd place finish (135-4).
 
In the 10,000-meter Kait Leister took 14th (41:10.17) and Hali Wagner took 15th (41:39.61).
 
The Marauders sit in a tie for first place with Slippery Rock (18 team points) following the first day of action. Seton Hill (14) and Edinboro (10) sit in third and fourth, respectively.

The three-day meet continues Friday, May 13. First events begin at 10 a.m. and run through 6 p.m.
