MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville extended its winning streak to five by rallying in singles play and defeating Jefferson 4-3 Sunday afternoon at McComsey Tennis Courts.
The five-match winning streak is Millersville's longest since starting 2019-20 with a 5-0 record. The Marauders are now 9-5 and have won three of the last four duals against Jefferson.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville's No. 1 team of
Julie Wallace and
Noelle Htwar won 6-1 for their team-leading 12th win of the season, but Jefferson won tiebreakers (7-6 (7-5)) at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take an early lead.
• But the top of Millersville's lineup delivered, and
Jasmine Morris (No. 1) and
Maria Ojeda (No. 2) won third-set match tiebreakers to pick up much-needed points for the Marauders. Morris outlasted Nicole Hrbkova, 6-4, 6-7 (1-7), 1-0 (10-7), and Ojeda topped Stanislava Norets, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4). Htwar cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win, and the clinching point came at No. 6 singles from
Chloe Abramowitz, who won 6-4, 6-1.
