MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - A strong Jefferson club edged Millersville by a 5-2 score at McComsey Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon. Four of the six singles matches went to third set match tiebreakers.
Jefferson improved to 9-3 with the win and snapped Millersville's (6-6) three-match winning streak.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville took two of three doubles matches for the first point of the dual. The No. 1 team of
Carlos Martinez-Lucas and
Frank Yanni improved to 17-3 with an 11-1 dual record with a 6-4 win. Millersville's No. 3 team of
Zach Pernia and
Santiago Ramos, now 6-2 on the season, clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory.
• Jefferson, however, took five of six singles matches, but four matches went to the wire, and Millersville players won the first set in the three that turned into defeats. Millersville's lone singles point came from
Lino Morin, who after dropping the first set, took two in a row, including a match tiebreaker that needed extra points, 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (11-9). Morin improved to 3-1 playing in the No. 6 spot.

• Millersville's final two PSAC matches come this week with a trip to Shepherd on April 5 and a home match against West Chester on April 7. Currently at 2-2, the Marauders sit in third place in the standings, well-positioned for a third-straight trip to the PSAC Tournament.
