Women's tennis starts Orlando trip with back-to-back wins

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Millersville women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three, opening its Spring Break trip to Orlando with back-to-back 5-2 wins over St. Cloud State and Cedarville.

Millersville has now won all three matches in the spring semester, improving its record to 3-2 overall.

MILLERSVILLE 5, ST. CLOUD STATE 2
• On the strength of wins from the No. 1 team of Julie Wallace and Noelle Htwar and the No. 3 team of Maria Ojeda and Chloe Abramowitz, Millersville took the doubles point. Htwar and Wallace won a close 7-5 decision while Ojeda and Abramowitz won 6-1.
• St. Cloud State earned points at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but Millersville's depth carried the day. Ojeda won 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. Wallace won in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) at No. 4 singles. Kelsey Heckert battled her way to a three-set win, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. Abramowitz added a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 6 spot.

MILLERSVILLE 5, CEDARVILLE 2
• With Htwar out of the lineup, Wallace teamed with Ojeda for just the second time and for the first time since the first match of the season. The duo still managed a 6-3 win in the No. 1 slot. Jasmine Morris and Heckert won 6-4 for their third win in the last four matches.
• Millersville's singles depth again made the difference. Cedarville won a pair of three-set barn burners in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. But the Marauders took the other four matches. Wallace and Heckert both blanked their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Abramowitz won her second-straight match, and newcomer Hui Jen Soo stepped into the lineup in the No. 6 spot and improved to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
