Nationally-ranked Lander snaps Millersville's winning streak

ORLANDO, Fla. - Lander, ranked No. 50 in the latest ITA National Rankings, ended the Millersville women's tennis team's three-match winning streak Thursday by a 4-0 final. Despite the final score, the Marauders played solid tennis and were in contention to win the three singles matches that were unfinished because of rain.

Millersville's record dropped to 3-3 overall while Lander improved to 9-3.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Lander took all three doubles matches and picked up wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, which was enough to clinch the win as the rain came. At No. 2 singles, Maria Ojeda was leading 4-3 in the second set after Maranda Adair had won the first set 6-3. Noelle Htwar had won her first set 6-4 before Mille Elsborg evened the match with a 6-2 win in set two. The match did not have a chance to reach the deciding third set. In the No. 4 spot, Julie Wallace dropped a narrow 7-6 (7-2) decision in the first set and was locked up at 1-1 in the second.
