Women's lacrosse set for matchup with Shepherd Friday

ABOUT THE GAME

  • Millersville women's lacrosse will look to jump above .500 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East play Friday afternoon against Shepherd. ‘Ville has the opportunity to move ahead of Bloomsburg to the division’s third spot with a victory. The Marauders are coming into this matchup with a 6-3 overall record and all three losses coming from opponents ranked inside the top-25 or receiving votes. Shepherd comes into Friday's contest with a 1-3 PSAC East record and its lone divisional win coming against last-place Shippensburg. 

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Kristi Kada, Gillian Zimmerman, Amanda Juliano and Grace Cobaugh have led the Marauders to a top-five PSAC offense through the team's first nine games. Kada and Zimmerman each have scored a team-high 24 goals, while Juliano has 12 and Cobaugh 19. The four upperclassman have also accounted for well over 50% of the team's shots this season, taking 198 out of a total 290. 
  • Juliano and Kada have also been dishing the ball out to teammates, along with freshman, Ashlyn Simonetti. The three lead 'Ville in assists this season with 29 combined. 
  • Cobaugh ranks top-five in the conference in draw controls per game with six, she also leads the team with 54 this season. 
  • Morgan Scott had performed well as a true freshman this season, ranking top-10 in the conference in every goalkeeping category. Scott ranks No. 4 in goals against average (8.64), No. 9 in saves per game (6.89), and No. 10 in save percentage (.446). The freshman has had help from defenders Marycait Dorley, Taiyana Goldsborough, Liv Genovese and more. 

SCOUTING THE RAMS

  • The Rams are led senior, Katherine Campbell on the offensive end of the field. Campbell leads the team in points (25, goals (17), shots (33), and ranks second in assists with nine. She is joined by Sidney Kelly, Sam Lassahn and Kaiya Edwards who all have recorded 14 or more points this season. Hailey Bennett has started all eight games in goal for the Rams, going 3-4 and allowing 106 goals.
