Marauders sit in eighth after day one of PSAC Championships

YORK, Pa. – Through day one of the PSAC Championship meet, the Marauders sit in eighth place with 68 points. Conference powerhouses West Chester and IUP lead the pack, with over 300 points each. The first day of competition featured the 200-IM, 50-Free, and 1000-Free.
 
DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jordan Plempel took second in her heat of the 200-IM with a time of 2:07.65, earning 17 points for the Marauders.
  • Maddi Stoner took eighth in her heat of the 200-IM, finishing in 2:15.04.
  • Carolyn Bolden took 21st overall in the 50-Free at 24.76, good for the fifth best mark in program history. 
  • Jewels Hepner just missed the cut for the finals in the 50-Free with a time of 24.97 finishing one spot out of the final cut.
  •  The Marauders made some ground on the 800-Free Relay, as Bolden, Plempel, Becca Yeager, and Hepner took seventh place (7:55.60) earning 46 points for 'Ville. The third best mark in program history.

REACTION FROM HEAD COACH ERIC USBECK
On the day one performance: "I see a lot of potential, I think there is a lot of good swims that can happen, it's just a matter of being in the right mindset.
On the young roster getting PSAC Championship experience: "The experience is valuable, since we are putting them in tough situations… so it may not necessarily settle in by the end of the week but it will be very valuable for us down the road."
 
UP NEXT
Day two prelims begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The events will be the 400-IM, 100-Fly, 200-Free, 200-Free Relay, and 400-IM Relay. The PSAC Championship runs through Saturday evening.
