WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The 15th-ranked Millersville wrestling team scored two lopsided wins over Davis & Elkins and Emory & Henry before falling to No. 7 West Liberty at Friday's Hilltopper Duals. 

The Marauders' 2-1 day pushed their record to 6-2 on the season. Millersville recorded six bonus point victories in a 47-0 win over Coach Jerry Boland's former team in Davis & Elkins. In the 59-0 win over Emory & Henry, the Marauders won seven of the eight contested matches by pinfall and the other victory was a technical fall. The 59 points were the most scored by a Millersville team in a dual since a 59-0 win over Elizabethtown in 1984, tying the program record for points in a dual. 

The clash of nationally-ranked teams went in favor of the homestanding Hilltoppers, 28-10, but Millersville's three nationally-ranked wrestlers all scored wins in the dual. At 133 pounds, No. 2 Devin Flannery scored a 5-3 decision over No. 9 Vincent Scollo. Flannery got an early takedown and started the third period with a reversal from bottom. He held on to his 4-1 lead and added to it with a point for riding time. 

Craig Cook, ranked No. 8 at 149 pounds, blanked Jacob Simpson, 5-0. Brandon Connor, ranked No. 8 at 165 pounds, built a 10-0 lead in the first period with eight points off nearfalls, and he held on for an 11-1 major decision over Toby Abbott. 

West Liberty's other three nationally-ranked wrestlers--a group that includes the No. 1 ranked 125 pounder Cole Laya--all won by bonus points to help the Hilltoppers pull away. 

Flannery and Cook both went 3-0 on the day with Flannery scoring a tech fall and a pin in just 12 seconds against Emory & Henry's Johnathan Almany. Millersville's 125-pounder Bryce Beatty went 2-1 on the day with a pin and major decision. Heavyweight Bishop McCoy picked up a pin and two victories. Anthony Giampietro also picked up two wins with a tech fall.

"We started off wrestling extremely well. Everyone did their jobs in the first two duals. Against West Liberty, we got beat by a very good team. We knew there were some toss-up matches we needed to win, and we fell short in all of them. We learned a lot today and saw a lot of good things as well. We will continue to build off this and get better moving forward."
