REACTION FROM HEAD COACH BRIAN SMITH
Dalstad and Thomas entering the record books: "Super happy for Becca who this weekend moved from 10th to ninth and then eighth in career digs during her final match as a Marauder. Becca is also now only the second player in program history to make that esteemed list with only three seasons of play. Rylee Thomas also came into her final match looking to etch her name in our records book. In 2021 she had 17 block assists and started today with 67, needing only three to tie her for 10th in single season block assists. Super happy she got that and against such a strong team."
Final thoughts on the 2022 season: "2022 will always be a season I will look upon fondly. Perhaps the Shepherd coach said it best after our match, "your team always plays scrappy". That does partially define this team this year. Undersized, not the prototype players in many positions but work hard for each other and play with heart. We gave the top team in the East our best effort today and no coach could ask any more of their team. We went out competing and playing the sport we love well. The final bus ride home is always interesting to observe if you just take the time to pay attention to it. Some players are in the back laughing and singing, some seem to be in a reflective mood, others having eaten are already fast asleep, and a few already doing homework. For now, all is well in their world, we get to relax and enjoy each other's company. It's peaceful and well earned. But soon we will all be back at it and preparing for our future battles on the court. We will enjoy the calm. It's a privilege to be part of this process."
