Four Marauders named CSC Academic All-District

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Four members of the Millersville University football program have been recognized for their academic and on-the-field performance by College Sports Communicators (CSC) with Academic All-District honors. Millersville's honorees include center Michael Bennett, linebacker Garrett Cox, guard Logan Fleegal and safety Steve Sweeney

The Academic All-District Teams are nominated and voted on by CSC (formerly CoSIDA). Student-athletes must be in at least their second year with the school, post a cumlative GPA of 3.50 and play in at least 50% of the team's games. All four Marauders will now go on the ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration. 

Bennett, a redshirt junior, is a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and owns a 3.60 GPA as a biology/pre-med major. He also has a minor in biochemistry. Bennett started all 11 games for the Marauders for the second season in a row. Fleegal, a redshirt sophomore, is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete with a 3.61 GPA in accounting. Bennett and Fleegal played a key role in Millersville winning five of its last seven games, powering a running game that rushed for over 250 yards three times and helped running back Jaheim Morris to All-PSAC East honors. Team grades had both players over 80%--a championship level performance--in the 11 games. Bennett did not allow a sack while Fleegal allowed only two. 

Cox was an All-PSAC East First Team selection at linebacker and is a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete with a 3.50 GPA. Cox is a sports medicine major. In 2022, Cox totaled 73 tackles and ranked second on the team with 12 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. 

Sweeney recorded a 3.82 GPA while earning his bachelor's degree and was enrolled in the master's of technology and innovation program during the 2022 season. An All-PSAC East selection in 2021, Sweeney started all 11 games for the third season in a row, totaled 32 tackles, picked off three passes and broke up 10.
