LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Millersville University's Anthony Giampietro continued his outstanding start to the season with a win in Friday's dual against Gannon, and on Monday, the Marauders' 184-pounder was named PSAC Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.
Giampietro, a redshirt sophomore in his first season with the Marauders, scored six points for his team against No. 6-ranked Gannon with his pinfall win over Cameron Page. Page, a former national qualifier and currently the No. 2-ranked wrestler in Super Region 1, led 4-2 in the third period until Giampietro hit a takedown and ended the bout at 4:50 by finishing the pin.
Giampietro took to the mat for the first time this season on Dec. 18, and since then, he's piled up a 6-1 record with two major decisions and a pin. His lone loss came against a Division I opponent from N.C. State.
Millersville is back in action at home Friday against Kutztown.
