MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville wrestling got off to a great start in Friday night's dual against sixth-ranked Gannon. But the Golden Knights eked out narrow decisions in four bouts and did enough to top the Marauders, 27-14. 

Millersville (4-2, 1-2 PSAC) got a decision at 125 pounds from Bryce Beatty, a technicall from Devin Flannery at 133 pounds, and Anthony Giampietro scored the first pin of his career. Gannon improved to 2-2 (1-0 PSAC) with the win. 

DUAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville raced to an 8-0 lead behind Beatty's 9-7 decision over Chris Petteys. Beatty built a 6-1 lead by the end of the first period with a pair of takedowns and a nearfall. Petteys made it interesting in the third, but Beatty escaped following both takedowns to preserve his lead. 
• Flannery followed with a convincing 16-1 tech fall in which he piled up 10 nearfall points in the first period alone. He ended the match early in the second with two takedowns. 
• Gannon, however, won seven of the final eight bouts, but the matches at 157, 165, 174 and 285 all went down to the wire. Gannon's Evan Fisler edged Parrilla 4-1 at 157. At 165, Millersville's Guy DeLeonardis pushed the nation's No. 1-ranked wrestler Alex Farenchak for three periods. Farenchak got his first point with an escape from the down position in the second period, and DeLeonardis reciprocated in the third to tie the match. Farenchak, however, got the takedown he needed late for a 3-1 win. At 174, Joey Petrella, ranked No. 2 in Super Region 1, squeezed by Anthony Yacovetti with a takedown in sudden victory. That broke a 2-2 tie and improved Petrella to 14-1. At 285, Bishop McCoy took Freddie Nixon, ranked No. 3 in Super Region 1 into tiebreakers with the score tied at 1-1. Both wrestlers earned escapes, but Nixon won on tiebreaker criteria. 
• Millersville received six points at 184 with Giampietro's pin of Cam Page. Trailing 4-2 in the second period, Giampietro hit a takedown and turned it into a pin.
