Volleyball improves to 2-0 at home

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – For the second time in as many home matches, the Marauders (4-11) dominated on the court, defeating the University of the Sciences by a final of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ville took an early 6-1 lead in set one as the Marauders were able to hold on for a 25-18 victory.
  • The second set was all Marauders early on, as Ville jumped out to a 13-3 lead. The Devils battled back, using a five and six point run to close the gap, eventually forcing a tie at 22-22. The Devils would go on a three-point run late in the set, securing a 26-24 win.
  • Ville continued their string of hot starts in the third set, taking a 5-0 lead. The Marauders would then score 10 out of 13 points to take a 15-6 advantage, putting the set out of reach for the Devils.
  • With the Devils bouncing back late in the fourth set, Ville went on a five-point run, highlighted by three aces from Emily Hoffman, to secure the match win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lauren Lucas led Ville with 10 kills.
  • Emily Hoffman recorded a team high five aces, three of which came in the end of the fourth and final set.  
  • Caitlyn Callahan tied a season high in blocks with eight.
  • Ville is now 2-0 at home this season.

UP NEXT
  • Ville is back in action on Oct. 1 as the Marauders head to Bloomsburg for a PSAC East matchup. First serves are set for 7:00.
