Winchock goal enough for Marauder victory

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville women's soccer team defeated Lock Haven Wednesday night for their first win since the 2019 season. Offense came early for the Marauders (1-1-1), as Morgan Winchock scored in the 5th minute of play off a perfect ball from Lauren Downey. This win brings the team to 1-1 in conference play.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville goalkeeper, Reagan Kolinski recorded her first shutout win of the season, allowing no goals off six Lock Haven shots. 
• The highlight of the match came in the 5th minute of play when Lauren Downey sent a ball to the right side of the Lock Haven Box for a Winchock goal.  

POST GAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH MATT PROCOPIO 
• On tonight's performance: "I thought we grew into the game. We were able to get an early goal, and then created more chances throughout the game. We were unfortunate to not convert more of our opportunities. 

• On the first win: "It's always good to get  a win. We will enjoy the result and then shift our focus to the next game tomorrow."

• On Saturday's match: "Tomorrow we will work on a few things we need to improve on for Saturday. It is important we finish out the week strong, and continue to improve our performances."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Millersville out-shot the visiting Bald Eagles 17-6, including a 8-2 edge on frame. 
• Each team had two corners.  
• Winchock recorded her first goal of the season. 
• Winchock, Rachel Leisher, and Kiley Marandola all ended the match with two shots on goal. Kylie Sullivan and Maddie Zielke were just behind them with one each. 
NOTES
• The Millersville win moves the program's all-time record versus Lock Haven to 13-11-1.

• The Marauders continue PSAC East play on Saturday when they host Shipensburg. The match is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
