MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team dropped their first game of the season to Lock Haven Wednesday night. Lock Haven scored a goal in both the 4th and 69th minute of play. The No. 12 Marauders recorded five shots on goal, but were unable to capitalize on any of these opportunities. The match didn't reach full time due to inclement weather, it was called off after the second cancellation with 16:44 left in the second half.Â
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville goalkeeper
Brady Hochman had a number of fantastic saves for the Marauders. The redshirt junior recorded five total saves in the match.Â
• Millersville (4-1) saw their best chance of the night come from their best offensive player through five games,
Spencer Shortt. A deflected ball landed in front of the forward on the left side of the Bald Eagle box. He was unable to get past Aitor Ruiz De Eguilaz, who was spectacular for Lock Haven throughout the match.Â
• The Bald Eagles got on the board early, as Andrea DiSomma took full advantage of a cross from Beckham Sibiski. DiSomma headed the cross in past Hochman to give Lock Haven a 1-0 lead.Â
• One half and weather break later Lock Haven struck again. Austin Kravetz scored in the 69th minute to clinch the 2-0 win for the Bald Eagles.Â
POST GAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH STEVE WIDDOWSON
•
On today's loss: "We can take away a lot of lessons today and as long as we learn from them, and learn quickly, then it can turn into a positive loss. We showed a distinct lack of character today, and did not show enough grit and determination in the most important areas of the field; both goal boxes. We played some good soccer for most of the game, but we did not defend with enough urgency or attack with enough quality and hunger to score."
• On the message moving forward: "Very simply to learn from these experiences, come back and train well for two days and be ready for another tough battle and difficult opponent."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
