Marauders best Seton Hill 1-0 for fourth straight win

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The No. 24 Marauders defeated Seton Hill 1-0 tonight to remain undefeated heading into PSAC East play. This is the first time Millersville has started 4-0 since the 2011 season.

The match was very defensive minded, as neither team reached double digit shot attempts. The Marauders came closest with nine on the night.

This was the last non-conference match before Millersville starts PSAC East play. They will host Lock Haven and Shippensburg next week.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville goalkeeper, Brady Hochman, made his third start of the season and recorded his third win. The red-shirt junior made two saves on the night off of four total Seton Hill shots.
• Millersville (4-0) saw the lone score of the night come off the foot of midfielder, Devven Frey. The freshman took a cross from Spencer Shortt and netted the game winning goal.

POST GAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH STEVE WIDDOWSON
On holding the 1-0 lead late in the match: "We didn't do a lot of great things today, but at least we were able to see out the last few minutes of the game pretty well. We certainly made our lives much harder than they needed to be today, but hopefully we learned a few lessons that will help us later on."

• On how to the team responded to physical play: "To be honest not very well. Our tempo on the ball was too slow for most of the day, so we were inviting the hits. We needed to be brighter on the ball and keep it moving, and when we did that it was a totally different game. We just didn't do it enough."

On heading into PSAC East play: "Our focus will be on improving from today and working on the areas we struggled with today. We know we can do better in several areas so we will focus there and be ready to go again with two more very tough games this week."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Millersville out-shot the Lightning 9-4, including 5-2 edge on frame. The Marauders also held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
• Frey recorded his first goal of the season.
• Frey and Shortt each had two shots on goal. Frank Astarita was just behind them with one.
