Seniors take center stage in Marauders' sweep of Frostburg State

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville men's tennis team is hitting its stride at just the right time. On Sunday at home against Frostburg State, the Marauders won their third match in as many days by a 7-0 score. The team's three seniors were recognized prior to the dual, and all three--Ben Fellman Brandon Miller, and Matt Hidalgo--contributed to singles and doubles victories.

The Marauders have just two regular season matches remaining before the PSAC Tournament, and Sunday's win was Millersville's fourth in its last six duals, and the only two losses in that stretch came to Division I Villanova and a 4-3 loss to Edinboro, which is ranked in the top-five in the region. Millersville is now 5-6 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Miller and Hidalgo, pairing together for the first time, won their match at No. 3 doubles by a 6-1 score, helping the Marauders to the doubles point. Carlos Martinez-Lucas and Frank Yanni won 6-2 for their ninth win in the last 10 matches. Ting-Yu Yen and Fellman won 6-0 for the their third-straight victory.
• Millersville won all six singles matches in straight sets. Miller played his first singles since 2019 and won 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 5 spot. Hidalgo earned his first career singles win by defeating Ethan Von Hagel, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6. Fellman made it a clean sweep for the seniors by winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot.

NOTES
• Martinez-Lucas' 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 1 flight was his fifth-straight singles win and improved him to 9-2 on the season. He is 29-8 in singles since March 23, 2019.
• Millersville is 9-2 at both No. 1 and No. 6 singles this season, and 22-11 in doubles matches.
• Millersville is locked in as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament. The Marauders will travel to top-seeded Mercyhurst for the semifinals. Millersville gave Mercyhurst its only PSAC loss (5-2) on April 9.
