MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team stayed perfect in PSAC East action with Friday's 6-1 victory over Lock Haven at McComsey Tennis Courts.
The win improved Millersville to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC East, setting up a showdown Saturday with West Chester, which is also undefeated in the PSAC East at 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Millersville cruised in doubles, winning all three matches by 6-0 scores. The No. 1 team of
Julie Wallace and
Noelle Htwar pushed their record to an impressive 5-2, while the No. 2 team of
Kelsey Heckert and
Jasmine Morris improved to 4-2 with their win.
Maria Ojeda returned to the lineup for the first time since March 27 and paired with
Lauren Weaver for the win at No. 3 doubles.
• Millersville won five of the six singles matches. The lone point came in the No. 1 flight, where Maddy Reeves needed a super-set tiebreaer to get by
Jasmine Morris. Wallace topped Delani Wolever by a 6-1, 6-2 score. Htwar and Ojeda won by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores. Heckert swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 flight, and Weaver won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
NOTES
• Heckert improved to 3-0 at No. 5 singles. Wallace, Htwar, Ojeda, Heckert and Weaver are all undefeated against PSAC East competition.
• Friday marked the first-ever meeting between Millersville and Lock Haven. Lock Haven's program started in 2019-20.
