CALIFORNIA, Pa.  – Millersville women's basketball fell to California (Pa.) Sunday in the back end of the team's back-to-back this weekend, 59-46.
Despite the loss, the Marauders arguably strung together their best half of basketball this season in the first 20 minutes of play. Â Millersville (1-8, 0-5 PSAC) secured a one-point lead after the first 10 minutes, outscoring Cal U (8-1, 3-1 PSAC) 16-15. The two teams then traded baskets during the second quarter and the Vulcans came away with a three-point lead at the half. 'Ville held their own in the third but were only able to offer a six-point fourth, which led to their eventual defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lauren Lister was able to draw a foul with just over a minute remining in the first quarter, she converted both free throws to send the Marauders to the second with a one-point lead.
- An Atiya McDonald free throw at the 4:31 mark in the second quarter gave Millersville their final lead of the afternoon, 23-22.
- The Vulcans would outscore the Marauders 17-13 in the third, and 12-6 in the fourth to win their fourth straight game and hand the Marauders their seventh consecutive loss.

- The Vulcans held the edge in points off turnovers (22-11), second chance points (15-5), and points in the paint (28-24).
- The Marauders held the edge in bench points (20-11).
- Millersville finished the game shooting 38.6% from the floor, 37.5% from beyond the arch, and 50% from the free-throw line. They shot a team-high 50% in the first quarter of play.
- Lister led the team in scoring with 13, while La'Shyra Williams and Makiah Shaw each had five.
- Williams and Taylor each grabbed five rebounds to lead the team.
- Lister led the team in assists, dishing out four in the loss.
