ABOUT THE GAME

  • Millersville and Edinboro meet Saturday, Nov. 13 at Biemesderfer Stadium to close out the regular season. Prior to the game, Millersville will recognize its four seniors: Cole Klayman, Rowland Miller, Christian Martir and Drew Schwindenhammer.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville scored a season-high 35 points last week against Bloomsburg, and all of those points came in the final three quarters. Millersville scored more points in the second and third quarters than it had in eight of its first nine games. Millersville also totaled a season-high in passing yards (304) and total offense (410). Jack Stagaard, making the second start of his career, completed 25-of-37 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns. He became Millersville’s first 300-yard passer and the first with four TD passes in a game since Collin Shank in October of 2019. Stagaard also rushed for a career-high 81 yards and a touchdown. It was the second-highest rushing total by a Marauder this season.
  • T’iar Young made the national TV highlights with one-handed catch in the third quarter. Of his 10 catches, three of gone for touchdowns, and three of his catches are for 24 yards or more. He set career highs against Bloomsburg with four catches for 95 yards. Hakim Melvin caught a career-high six passes as well.
  • Rafael Lozada has made 10 or more tackles in three consecutive games and has moved into the team lead, ranking eighth in the PSAC with 8.7 tackles per game.
  • Tyler Tate picked up a half-sack last week to bring his season total to 10, making him the first Marauder since 1999 with double-digit sacks. Tate is tied for second in the PSAC. Chase Alisauckas has recorded at least a half-sack in five of the last six games.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING SCOTS

  • In their first season under head coach Jake Nulph, the Fighting Scots have started to roll in recent weeks, winning two in a row, including a 21-17 upset of nationally-ranked IUP on the road. Last week, Edinboro beat Clarion, 17-10. Edinboro’s defense has kept games close throughout the season. It has allowed 27 points or fewer in six of the last seven games, and the team’s last three losses have come by no more than eight points. While Edinboro has managed to limit scores, teams have had success moving the ball, especially on the ground. Edinboro has allowed at least 139 yards rushing in five of the last six games, and opponents have topped 200 yards rushing four times this season. While Edinboro ranks ninth in the PSAC in scoring defense, it ranks 11th in total defense and 13th against the run. Edinboro also ranks 15th in sacks, totaling just 16 in nine games.
  • On offense, quarterback Isaac Bernard has been efficient as a freshman, tossing six touchdowns to four interceptions and completing 62.3% of his passes. Anfreenee Williams is the team’s leading rusher, averaging 44 yards per game with five touchdowns scored. Mike Watkins leads the team in catches (27), yards (339) and receiving touchdowns (3).
  • Kicker Vincente Arriagada is also a weapon for the Fighting Scots. He’s made seven field goals and is 7-for-9 inside 40 yards.

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Millersville: Bloomsburg 38, Millersville 35  (Nov. 6, 2021) - Millersville staged a furious second-half comeback, scoring 28 unanswered points, but Bloomsburg did just enough to hang on 38-35. Millersville trailed 38-7 late in the second quarter, but a Jack Stagaard to Christan Drayton touchdown pass as the first half clock expired jump-started the Millersville offense. The Marauders scored 21 second-half points, but the slow start, along with a missed field goal on the opening drive of the third quarter, and an interception thrown in the end zone with just over six minutes remaining proved too costly to overcome.
  • Edinboro: Edinboro 17, Clarion 10 (Nov. 6, 2021) - Edinboro took the lead on the first play of the fourth quarter and made the lead hold up for a 17-10 victory over visiting Clarion. With 1:33 left in the third, Sir Dennis II made a diving play on the football keeping the Golden Eagles out of the end zone. The ball popped into the air and Reed Martin intercepted it putting the ball on the 20-yard line after the touchback. Anfreenee Willaims wasted no time giving Edinboro the lead on the first play of the fourth with a five-yard plunge to make the score 17-10.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Millersville and Edinboro meet for the first time in six seasons and for only the 12th time ever. Four of the 11 meetings have come since 2008. Going back to 1998, Millersville has won two of the last three match-ups at Biemesderfer Stadium. Millersville's 31-21 win in the 2015 season finale ended a three-game winning streak for the Fighting Scots.
  • THE LAST MEETING (Millersville 31, Edinboro 21 (Nov. 14, 2015): The Marauders piled up a season-high 402 yards of offense behind a career-high 301 yards from quarterback J.J. Paige. Paige, who tossed three touchdown passes, found Cimirrow Moat for a 76-yard screen pass turned touchdown for Millersville's longest reception since Sept. 20, 2008. Moat caught another TD pass for 42 yards with 5:42 left in the third quarter, giving him 118 yards receiving on just two catches. Moat also rushed for 38 yards.
