MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team has not had a shortage of scoring opportunities this season, they have had trouble converting them at times. Today they were able to convert a late goal to come home from Bloomsburg with a 1-0 win.
The first half started with multiple chances for the Huskies, as they recorded three of their seven total shots in the first 20 minutes of the match. Keeper
Bobby Bosch made a save at the 14th minute mark off a Liam Harmon shot to keep the score even. Bloomsburg had another near-goal in the 18th minute when Sammy Ames hit the crossbar on a shot of his own. Bosch and the Marauder defense held the surge and Millersville would go on to take the remaining five shots of the half.
Neither team was able to get on the board until the 75th minute of play.
Spencer Shortt, who has either scored or assisted in the last four Millersville goals, crossed a ball into the Bloomsburg box that found midfielder
Devven Frey for a Marauder score. Frey's second goal of the season lifted the team to a much needed win in a tight PSAC East.
The Marauders (7-4, 3-3 PSAC East) went into Saturday's match tied with Bloomsburg (6-5, 2-4 PSAC East) for the No. 4 spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East. They took sole possession of the spot following their win and will look to bring that momentum into their first rematch of the season with the top team in the East, Lock Haven. The match is on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Lock Haven.
