Women's soccer faces off with No. 21 West Chester in "Pink out Pucillo" game

ABOUT THE GAME

  • West Chester, the No. 21 team in the nation,  is set to visit Millersville on Saturday night in what currently is a matchup of two playoff contending teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East. 'Ville is sitting in the No. 4 spot while WCU currently holds the No. 2 spot in the East. Only the top four teams in each PSAC division make the playoffs. 
  • Millersville will look to even the season series against the Golden Rams after dropping the first matchup back on Sept. 25 by a score of 2-0 in favor of West Chester. 
  • Millersville is coming off two road wins against Lock Haven and Shippensburg. Both came down to the wire and resulted in 3-2 wins for the Marauder group. 
  • West Chester has won four in a row coming in to the matchup with Millersville. They knocked off East Stroudsburg, Shepherd, Lock Haven, and the No. 3 team in the nation, Kutztown during the winning streak.
  • 'Ville is hosting a “Pink out Pucillo” game in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team is encouraging Marauder fans to wear pink in recognition of breast cancer awareness month. SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville currently is even in goals for/against on the season with 17 in both categories. They do however create plenty of scoring opportunities in the attacking third with 32 more corner kicks than opposing teams thus far. 
  • Savannah Rennix has been huge for the Marauders in their last two games, scoring three goals, including a game-winning goal in their comeback win over Lock Haven. She currently is tied for the most goals on the team with four. 
  • Morgan Winchock also has four goals on the year and continues to be one of the key pieces in the Marauder offensive attack. The forward scored the game-tying goal in the match against Lock Haven last week. 
  • Lauren Downey currently leads the team in assists and has found one of her teammates for a score in three of the last five games.  
  • Reagan Kolinski has recorded 57 total saves on the season, while allowing 17 goals. The Junior ranks top-10 in the PSAC in saves per game (4.75).

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS

  • The Golden Rams are currently outscoring their opponents 31-10 on the year, and outshooting them 215-115.  
  • West Chester has a very balanced offensive attack with five players having scored three or more goals on the season. Kaitlynn Haughey currently leads the Golden Rams with five scores on the season, she also ranks 10th in the PSAC in points with 14 on the year.
  • Keeper Hayley McGee has been great in goal for the Golden Rams this season, allowing only eight goals in her 11 starts and posting four shutouts thus far.
