
Wrestling announces 2020-2021 recruiting class

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville wrestling team and head coach Kerry Regner has announced the recruiting class for the upcoming 2020-2021 season. The group consists of 11 incoming freshmen and they join a young roster that includes nine sophomores, eight juniors, and zero seniors.
Guy DeLeonardis
Knoch High School
Projected weight: 165 pounds
Accomplishments: 3x WPIAL qualifier, PIAA state qualifier
Kerry Regner on DeLeonardis: "Guy should be an immediate impact at the middleweights for Millersville. An all-around athlete with a big motor. Another freshman who has yet to even see his ceiling let alone reach it. He is a young man who has all the attributes you want to see your children have. A quality young man who will be sure to push himself and love his teammates."
Patrick Johnson
Seneca Valley High School
Projected weight: 184/197 pounds
Accomplishments: 3x PIAA state team qualifier, 75 career wins
Kerry Regner on Johnson: "A tough wrestler who fights from whistle to whistle. Patrick is a tough leg rider and can use that to win big matches. He is a great teammate and willing to do what is necessary for the team to succeed."
Bishop McCoy
South Side High School
Projected weight: 285 pounds
Accomplishments: 2x PIAA state medalist (second, fifth), 2x District 7 champion
Kerry Regner on McCoy: "A wealth of knowledge and uncanny athletic ability. Moves extremely well for a big man with an attacking mentality. Bishop is able to be one of the nicest people you will meet and then go out and be a physically dominant wrestler. His father Bear McCoy wrestled for Millersville and was a PSAC champion."
Matt Morris
Red Hook High School
Projected weight: 125/133 pounds
Accomplishments: 2x New York state placewinner, 3x Section 9 champion, Greco state champion
Kerry Regner on Morris: "A student of the sport, he genuinely LOVES wrestling and all of the challenges that come with it. His accomplishments from high school will be sure to continue at Millersville. Matt's passion and drive to succeed is very high. He is another well-mannered young man off the mat and has a warrior-like mentality on the mat."
Clayton Reed
Mifflinburg High School
Projected weight: 141 pounds
Accomplishments: 2x PIAA state qualifier, sectional champion, District 4 / NE region runner-up
Kerry Regner on Reed: "A gritty wrestler who wrestles tough from whistle to whistle. He is terrific from his feet and finishes quickly on his attacks. Your stereotypical "blue collar" wrestler, he lives on a farm and is farm strong. Clayton understands what hard work really looks like and will battle through tough times."
Tyler Stanton
Shaker High School
Projected weight: 149/157 pounds
Accomplishments: 107 career wins, 2x sectional placewinner, 3-year team captain
Kerry Regner on Stanton: "Tyler is college-strong and explosive already. He has a high ceiling that has yet to be seen. His mental toughness will be sure to take him far. He is a teammate that everyone wants to have: selfless, hardworking, and will physically and mentally push his teammates to be greater than."
Braeden Swab
Central High School
Projected weight: 141 pounds
Accomplishments: 110 career wins, 3x regional qualifier, PIAA state placewinner
Kerry Regner on Swab: "Braeden shows determination. He is known for his hard work and grittiness on the mat. He has shown a great deal of success on the mat and has the capability to achieve great things. We are excited to see his continued academic and athletic journey with us."
Tim Uhler
New Oxford High School
Projected weight: 133 pounds
Accomplishments: 135 career wins, 2x PIAA state qualifier, sectional champion
Kerry Regner on Uhler: "Tim has no weak links in his wrestling and is solid from every position. He shows great promise with his ability to wrestle through positions and can surprise people with pinning combinations on top. Tim will be a great addition in the lower weights and we expect big results from him right out of the gate. He is a great student of the sport and a great student in the classroom."
Marshall VanTassel
Union City High School
Projected weight: 197 pounds
Accomplishments: PIAA state placewinner, 2x all-state academic team
Kerry Regner on VanTassel: "Marshall is an upper weight with very quick, explosive power. He is an extremely offensive wrestler who loves to put up points. In addition, he has proven toughness in wrestling in non-ideal situations. He is someone who badly wants to succeed and will find a way to win in tough times."
Bruce Vaughan
Wilson High School
Projected weight: 197 pounds
Accomplishments: 2x District 3 qualifier, sectional champion, Berks County champion
Kerry Regner on Vaughan: "Hard-nosed wrestler who isn't afraid to take risks. Bruce will give Millersville much-needed depth at the upper weights. He has overcome a lot of adversity and we are excited to watch Bruce climb on the success mountain. A kid who is willing to battle through adverse times."
Cameron Whisner
East Forest High School
Projected weight: 174 pounds
Accomplishments: 2x PIAA state qualifier, district champion, regional runner-up
Kerry Regner on Whisner: "Cameron has attributes that you can't teach. His length, ability to wrestle through positions, and individual drive will take him far and allow him to rise to the top at the next level. Cameron is willing to push through tough times, injuries, and non-ideal situations. His toughness will be a great addition."
