LANCASTER, Pa. – One year ago at Millersville's Pucillo Gymnasium, the Marauders defeated the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats to regain the Rupp Cup and break an eight-year-long F&M winning streak in the series between the two institutions. The Diplomats flipped the script tonight in their own gym, the Mayser Center, claiming a 23-10 dual meet victory and securing possession of the Rupp Cup until 2021's dual meet.
Â
Three Millersville wrestlers were victorious on the evening: freshman
Jarrett Feeney at 165 pounds, senior
Evan Morrill at 184 pounds, and freshman 133-pounder
Jacob Lehman.
Â
Multiple bouts came down to one or two key moments that could have swung either way, including overtime losses from both
Devin Flannery at 125 pounds and PSAC Wrestling Athlete of the Week
Josh Walls at heavyweight.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The dual meet began at 149 pounds but the Marauders did not pick up a victory until the 165-pounders hit the mat. Millersville's
Jarrett Feeney opened up his bout against Cole Aaron with a quick double leg shot and resulting takedown. He denied Aaron an escape point the rest of the way in the first and began the second period in bottom position. Feeney again got the best of Aaron, notching a reversal and another takedown in the second to take a commanding lead and eventually earn the 9-3 decision.

• Millersville senior
Evan Morrill, wrestling in his final dual meet as a Marauder, had to come from behind in his 184-pound bout. F&M's Crew Fullerton scored the first takedown, but Morrill escaped and then shot towards Fullerton near the edge of the circle. Fullerton knew he was in trouble and attempted to pull Morrill out of bounds to earn a reset in the center of the mat, but Morrill got hold of Fullerton's ankle, dragged him back in, and recollected the legs for a takedown and a 3-2 lead. Evan began the second period in the down position and quickly escaped to take a 4-3 lead. A wild scramble ensued with about 40 seconds left in the period, culminating in Morrill almost locking up a near cradle, but it was nevertheless a takedown and inevitably secured a 6-4 decision for the Marauders.
• PSAC Wrestling Athlete of the Week
Josh Walls and F&M's Vincenzo Pelusi wrestled a classic heavyweight bout that extended into six overtime periods. Only escape points were scored the entire bout (3-3), and neither wrestler could hold the other down for very long. Pelusi, however, was able to accrue more riding time throughout the overtime periods, which is the tiebreaker used to determine victory. Walls was denied his 15
th win of the season.
Â
• 133-pounder
Jacob Lehman, coming off of two inspiring performances at last Saturday's Shippensburg Duals, again looked bright in his bout against F&M's Jack Bruce. Lehman scored a takedown in the first period as Bruce was trying desperately to defend but could not deny Lehman's quick attacks. Lehman displayed strength from the top position and rode Bruce tough the rest of the period—and, in fact, the entire bout—denying any escape points and cruising to an 8-0 major decision.

POST-DUAL REACTION FROM HEAD COACH KERRY REGNER
•
On looking back at the dual meet season: "I think tonight was a pure example of our entire dual meet season. Overall, we wrestled tough, but you saw some mental lapses. I'm not worried about wins and losses, I'm worried about
how you win or lose and what you do when you step on the mat. It's about the pride you bring to Millersville, and—through your sportsmanship and effort—can you constantly battle for the team, for yourself, and control the mat. Make sure you are where you want to be and make sure your opponent is also where you want him to be."

•
On his team's preparations for the upcoming Super Region 1 tournament: "They're ready."
Â

• Tonight's dual meet featured one technical fall and one major decision but no falls or forfeits. Last year's Battle for the Rupp Cup between the Ville and F&M featured three falls, a forfeit, and two major decisions.
