Women’s basketball falls to Bloomsburg

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Double-digit scoring efforts from Lauren Lister and Mia Leonard weren't enough for the Marauders to pull ahead of Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon. The Marauders dropped the contest to Bloomsburg, 75-63.

Millersville managed to close in on a 17-point gap with a 14-2 run through the last five minutes of the second quarter but wouldn't come within five points of the Huskies' lead throughout the rest of the contest.

Millersville drops to 7-13 overall and 4-11 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg improves to 9-11 overall and 6-8 in conference play.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders were the first to get on the scoreboard off a Mia Leonard layup in the paint marking the only time Millersville would lead throughout the rest of the game. A jumper from Bloomsburg's Emma Saxton started the Huskies on an 8-3 run until the eighth minute.
• The Marauders remained within five points until a 3-pointer from Lauren Lister at the 40 second mark cut the deficit to just two points, the closest they had been since the sixth minute of play. Bloomsburg's Bella Ricci sunk her own bucket from downtown to keep the score within five at the end of the first quarter.
• Bloomsburg began to run away with the lead in the second quarter off a 12-0 run for a 17-point lead, its largest of the game. Another 3-pointer from Lauren Lister swung the momentum in the Marauders direction as they began on a 14-2 run of their own to come back within five points of the lead. The run consisted of back-to-back Lister layups as well as buckets from Ty Taylor and Leonard.
• The Huskies controlled the third and fourth quarters never letting Millersville come closer than seven points and creating as much as a 14-point lead with just under a minute left in the game. Lister put up two more points in the final three seconds to cut the deficit to 12, 75-63.

HEAD COACH MARY FLEIG QUOTES
• "We still didn't start well. Bloomsburg wanted it more. They came out from the start until the end and we went back on our heels."
• "Bloomsburg had a great game plan and they executed it very well against our offense. They really took away our shooters. We got frustrated as a unit. It's hard in a game to continually see that."
• "Their game plan got in our head and we were frustrated. Not shooting as many threes and free throws really hasn't happened all year. We credit Bloomsburg. They wanted it and we just didn't respond."
