No. 23 women's soccer blanks Lock Haven 5-0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –  A barrage of Millersville shots and offensive pressure led to a 5-0 victory over Lock Haven for the No. 23 ranked women's soccer team. It is the seventh-straight victory for the Marauders over Lock Haven and improved Millersville's overall record to 4-0 to begin the 2019 campaign.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
•  There was just a single goal in the first half and it came in the eighth minute. Savannah Rennix cleaned up a rebounded shot and struck true to give the Marauders the 1-0 lead.
•  After halftime the waves of Millersville attackers broke through multiple times. Kylie Sullivan smashed it into the far corner of the goal to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.
• In the 69th minute, a corner kick led to Millersville's third goal. Kay Liebl booted it from the corner flag to the head of Paige Mancini who headed it home to create a three goal cushion.
• The Marauders were not done. Ten minutes later, in the 79th minute, Emily Tomlinson picked out Mackenzie Stallone at the far post and delivered the cross, which Stallone promptly finished for the 4-0 advantage.
• Tomlinson would get her reward for being unselfish in the 87th minute. From another corner kick, Haley Peachey found Tomlinson with the cross, and this time it was Tomlinson finishing at the far post for the fifth goal of the game.

POST GAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH MATT PROCOPIO
• On today's gameplan and execution: "We really wanted to keep them on the back foot and kept looking to get in behind. We did look to press them in areas when we could, which helped us keep them locked in."
• On the second half flurry of offense: "I was happy with our response in the second half. We left some chances out there in the first half. Great to see young players and new players hit the back of the net. It will definitely give them more confidence as we move forward."
• On the win as just the first step in a tough stretch: "Started off the week on another positive note which is great. Again we must stay grounded and focused for each game. I believe we have great potential coming out of preseason. We really need to focus on our performances and make sure we continue to better ourselves."
