PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -Â For the first time in 11 years, the Millersville University women's tennis team is off to a 3-0 start.
The Marauders (3-0)Â continued a strong start to the season Wednesday, taking down Holy Family University (0-2) in a clean sweep, 7-0. The last time the women's program opened with three wins in three tries was the 2008-09 season.Â
As was the case in the first two matches, Millersville did not drop a set in the match.Â
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders dropped no more than two games in any set en route to a dominating victory.Â
• The flight one doubles team of
Esperanza Contador and
Julie Wallace opened the afternoon with a victory against Natalie Rivera and Latifah Hinway, a junior and senior, respectively, 6-1.
Hannah Bryan and
Corinne Grohoski followed that up in flight two doubles by grabbing the set and the point, 6-2.Â

Kelsey Heckert and
Victoria Hanus won in flight three doubles by default.Â
• Heckert won the first match at flight five singles against Keisha Bowman, 6-0, 6-0. The sophomore was the only player to not drop a game in the match.Â
• Wallace, a freshman playing in flight two singles, won her match, 6-2, 6-0.

Jasmine Morris (flight three) and Bryan (flight four) both dropped only one game in two sets.Â

Maria Ojeda won by default in flight six singles.Â

"Our returning players worked hard to improve since last season," head coach
Matt Helsel said. "Their performance so far has been impressive in practice and competition. It makes filling out the lineup card difficult, but that's a good problem to have."
NOTES
• Millersville evened up the all-time series with Holy Family, 2-2. This was the second consecutive season Millersville has defeated Holy Family in a clean sweep.Â
• The Marauders opened the season 3-0 for the first time since 2008-09. That team opened the season 4-0 and finished 7-11.Â
