East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Seeking its first playoff berth since the 2015-16 season, the Millersville University women's tennis team took a big step towards that goal with a 7-0 sweep of East Stroudsburg on Tuesday afternoon.
The Marauders (8-14, 2-1 PSAC) have won back-to-back conference matches for the first time since that 2015-16 season, while the Warriors (5-7, 1-3 PSAC) have been swept in back-to-back matches.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville swept doubles and did not let any singles matches go to a third set.
Katina Jones and
Jasmine Morris won their flight one doubles match, 6-1, while
Megan Rovenolt and
Corinne Grohoski were victorious in their flight two doubles match, 6-3.
Kelsey Heckert and
Victoria Hanus swept their flight three doubles match, 6-0.
• Jones swept her opponent at flight one singles, 6-0, 6-0. Morris won her flight two singles match, 6-0, 6-2, Heckert won at flight three, 6-0, 6-1, Hanus won at flight four, 6-1, 6-1, Grohoski won at flight five, 6-1, 6-0, and
Lauren Weaver won at flight six, 6-1, 6-2.
NOTES
• The Marauders' win snaps a two-match losing streak to East Stroudsburg and Millersville now leads the all-time series, 32-8.
• Grohoski has now won four of her last five singles matches.
