ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
• Millersville University's Shane Ruhnke and Colton Dull are set to face the top wrestlers in the Division II ranks starting on Friday in Cleveland, Ohio.
• Ruhnke, the NCAA Super Region 1 champion at 165 pounds, is heading to his second-straight NCAA Championships. He finished in sixth place last year, earning him an All-American spot. In this year's bracket, Ruhnke is seeded first, even above the top two ranked wrestlers in the country in Calvin Ochs of Nebraska-Kearney (No. 1) and Rodney Shepherd of UNC- Pembroke (No. 2).
• Ruhnke has won three tournament titles including the super region and PSAC Championship. He also posted a runner-up finish at the David H. Lehman Open. Ruhnke holds a 23-3 overall and 14-1 tournament record. Ruhnke's only tournament loss came at the David H. Lehman Open where he was defeated by former Division I All-American Rich Durso of Malvern Wrestling Club, 11-8.
• Ruhnke's 12 pins are a career high and he went 7-0 in the month of February.
• Ruhnke has a 9-4 career record against other wrestlers who are in his bracket. The other two regional wrestlers from Super Region 1 are Logan Grass of Mercyhurst and Devin Austin of Pitt-Johnstown. Ruhnke has lost three times to these two in his career--twice against Austin last season. Ruhnke's other lost came in last year's fifth-place match at the NCAA Championships against Shepherd of UNC-Pembroke. Ruhnke may see two opponents who he faced and defeated in the last year's championships: Anthony Dailey of Notre Dame and Jason Buhr of Colorado Mesa.
• The 197-pound Dull earned his first berth into the NCAA Championships by a runner-up finish at the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships. Dull is going into the weekend with a 12-6 overall record and a 7-5 mark in tournaments. Dull leads the team in technical falls with seven.
• The Marauder dealt with a lingering injury in the middle of January before coming back to action against Shippensburg's Alexi Castro on Feb. 9. Since returning to the mat, Dull has a 4-1 record.
• The one loss in that span came in the championship match in the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships against Levi Niebauer of Pitt-Johnston who has topped Dull three times.
MILLERSVILLE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
• The last time the Marauders sent two wrestlers to the NCAA Championships was in the 2009-10 season when the team was in Division I. Ruhnke and Dull are vying to become Millersville's first Division II national champ.
• Hall of Famer Don Wagner was the last member Marauder to win a national championship. That came in 1980 as a competitor in the Division III ranks.
THE LAST YEAR AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Ruhnke became Millersville's first All-American since Tom Barley (142) in 1991 and the first-ever in Division II. Ruhnke finished in sixth place. He was the first Marauder to have qualified for a national championship since 2010-11 season when Mike Greck earned a spot.
• Ruhnke went 3-3 in his first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS RUNDOWN
• At the 165-pound weight class, the bracket includes the defending national champion Bret Romanzak of Ashland with a 30-5 overall record. Romanzak will be on home territory as Ashland University is the host site for this year's NCAA Championships.
• Ruhnke's opening bout is against Logan Saltou of Minnesota State who holds an 18-7 record.
• The 165-pound bracket includes the top 11 ranked wrestlers in all Division II. Ruhnke's bracket has six wrestlers who have claimed 22 or more wins.
• Dull's opening match will be against Elijah Seay of King (Tenn.). Pitt-Johnstown's Niebauer is seeded second in the bracket after posting an 11-0 record.
