Mount Olive, N.C. – The Millersville University softball team stopped over at Mount Olive College on its way to Florida Saturday and dropped a doubleheader to the homestanding Trojans by scores of 5-0 and 6-2. It was the first meeting since 2013.
The Marauders dropped to 6-5 on the season while Mount Olive improved to 12-8. The Marauders recorded four hits in the opener and seven in game two.Â
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
• The Trojans scored at least one run in the first three innings, including two in the second inning which helped them to lead 4-0 early.
• Mount Olive extended its lead in the bottom of the sixth with a Heather Childress RBI double.Â
• The Trojan's Haley Brogden shutdown the Marauders' offense, striking out eight batters.
•
Emma Bevard got the start but lost, throwing three innings while striking out two.
Maddie Guinane came into the game after the third inning and gave up two hits and one run. Mount Olive's Brogden recorded her seventh complete game.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
• A three-run bottom of the fourth extended the Trojans' lead to 6-1. The Trojans recorded two doubles and a single to bring in the three runs in the fourth inning.

Devan Masciulli cut the lead down to four in the top of the sixth with her first collegiate home run.

Brianna Battavio and Masciulli went 2-for-3 with an RBI each.

Brianna White started start but only went 1 2/3 inning, giving up three hits for three runs. Head coach

Catherine Johnson in the second inning. Johnson allowed six hits, three runs and struck out three batters.

• Battavio recorded her fourth multi-hit game while Willenbrock extended her hitting streak to six.
