Marauders fall to Mercyhurst in first PSAC contest

ERIE, Pa. – The Millersville women's basketball team outscored Mercyhurst 38-37 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to recover the 25-point effort by the Lakers in the second quarter. Despite eight lead changes and four tied scores, Mercyhurst pulled ahead in the final minutes to top Millersville, 76-69.

Millersville now holds a 1-3 record overall and is 0-1 in the PSAC. This was the fourth-straight road contest for the Marauders and their first game of PSAC play. Mercyhurst notched its first win of the season to improve to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.

Lauren Lister went 10-of-18 from the field for a total of 24 points. Olivia Mottern added 14 points to the Marauders' scoring effort shooting .555 percent from the field and going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Dimoff started the fourth quarter scoring effort by sinking a second 3-pointer. The Lakers' Nicolete Newman was quick to answer with a three of her own. After a 30 second timeout, the Marauders regrouped and a Mia Leonard layup would start the team on a 10-0 run to take the lead, 63-62.
• Five traded free throws between the teams would change the lead twice, but Millersville pulled ahead off a layup by Lister to lead by two, the closest it had been since the first quarter. Mercyhurst ended the final three minutes with an 11-2 run to take the ultimate lead and the victory over the Marauders.
