THOUGHTS FROM COACH BRIAN SMITH
•
On the team's performance: "The entire match we passed very well. That was key. I thought we started a little slow hitting. We weren't having errors, we were just mishitting. But that worked it's way out and we played very consistently from start to finish."
•
On what in the game plan worked well: "Having played them before we knew that their best hitters percentage wise were their middles so we needed to serve tough and deep, which we did. They passed a lot of one-balls and had to go up outside the pins a lot. That's what we wanted to happen--make their offense predictable and for us to pass well so ours wasn't."
•
On playing for high stakes in the final two matches: "We are exactly where we want to be. We are in position where all these matches matter. They are for seeding purposes. It takes some edge off because it isn't a lose-and-go-home or win-and-advance situation. I'm looking forward to some very competitive matches and Ship and Shepherd. Hosting them at home is great for us."
NOTES
• Millersville's win evened the all-time series with West Chester at 30 wins apiece. This is the first time since 2005 that Millersville has swept the season series.
• Laughman is 46 assists shy of breaking Missy Rauhauser's school record of 1,116 which was set in 1992.
• Suseland, now with 399 kills, is five shy of breaking Abby Hafer's school record of 403, which was set in 1995. She is also just four kills shy of recording the most career kills by a Marauder.
• Blevins finished the match with 987 kills, putting her just 13 away from becoming the 10th player in program history with 1,000 career kills.
