The Marauders managed to close the gap to 22-19 on a Gubbings kill, but Ship again scored on back-to-back serves to end the set. The third set featured 15 ties and eight lead changes. COACH BRIAN SMITH'S THOUGHTS
•
On the team's performance: "We played a competitive match. We started out slow in set one but caught up a little. We got good numbers from our middles but struggled a little at the pin and defensively in the deep corners."
•
On playing back-to-back matches against top teams: "We seemed flat as a team. The team needs to continue to do better generating positive, sustainable energy. We didn't play united today and as one. We look forward to our rematch against Ship at the Ville."
NOTES
• Saturday's loss was just the second time this season that Millersville has lost in three sets and it was the first time since Sept. 5 in the season opener against nationally-ranked Lewis.
