Marauders respond with victory against Slippery Rock

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Playing for the first time since failing to find the net against Kutztown, No. 3 Millersville had no such problems against Slippery Rock.

The Marauders dominated in all phases of the game, defeating The Rock, 6-0. The victory improved Millersville to 11-3 overall and 3-3 in PSAC action.

It was the second victory of the season for Millersville against Slippery Rock, previously defeating The Rock in western Pennsylvania, 7-1.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville didn't waste any time finding the back of the cage in this one. Sophomore Asia Weaver opened the scoring after tipping in a shot from Katie Strickland just 6:16 into the match. It was Weaver's fifth goal on the season.
• Less than 30 seconds later, Strickland gave the Marauders a 2-0 advantage. The freshman forward dribbled toward the cage and fired an unassisted shot past the keeper for her second goal of the season.
• The score remained 2-0 until the second quarter. Erica Tarsi muscled home a goal early in the second frame. A scrum in front of the Slippery Rock net ensued after the Marauders advanced the ball upfield. It was Tarsi who came out on top, giving Millersville a 3-0 lead.
• The third quarter was the busiest one of the day. A little more than two minutes in, Tarsi took the ball from the right side of the field, pivoted to her left past a defender and whistled one past the keeper to give the Marauders a 4-0 lead. It was her 10th goal of the season.
Annabelle Tierney put home her second goal of the season not even two minutes later. Again attacking from the right side of the field, senior Kyra Brakefield made a move toward the cage and delivered a beautiful pass to Terney, who knocked it in from point-blank range.
• Just three minutes after that, Millersville scored their final goal of the game. Off of a corner opportunity, Jordan Goddard passed to Hannah Brown on the left side of the field, who rocketed a long-range shot for her fifth goal of the season and a 6-0 lead.
