
Ruhnke leads Marauders at F&M Open with a second-place finish

Lancaster, Pa. – The Millersville University wrestling team was led by the 165-pound redshirt senior Shane Ruhnke who placed second at the David H. Lehman Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall. Senior Colton Dull and redshirt senior David Wuestner both made it to the quarterfinals of their weight classes but fell short of placing.
With the NCAA's six matches a day rule, the decision was made to not have seventh-place matches and a few fifth-place matches as well.
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
• After winning the PSAC Championship, Ruhnke advanced all the way to the championship bout against a former Division I All-American Rick Durso of Malvern Wrestling Club. Ruhnke kept with the wrestler throughout the match while fighting till the end but was unable to come up with a win and lost, 11-8. Ruhnke got to the final by a medical forfeit in the semifinals. In his first three matches, Ruhnke dominated his opponents by earning a 19-4 technical fall over Crew Fullerton in the first round and then capturing major decision victories over Austin Murphy of Campbell and Tim Fitzpatrick of American University.
• Dull finished with an even 2-2 record on the day. Dull had to forfeit his consolation fourth round bout due to injury. Dull came off a tough quarterfinal battle against Austin McNeill of Campbell where he lost 2-0, moving him into the consolation bracket. Dull advanced to quarterfinals by defeating Delaware Valley's Steve Horvath by a 16-0 technical fall. Dull pinned his first opponent--Farham Khan of Middlesex County--inside one minute into the bout.
• Wuestner had a similar outcome to Dull, losing in his first battle in the consolation bracket. Wuestner was not able to overcome Antonio Pelusi of F&M in the championship quarterfinals where the Diplomat pinned the Marauder 36 seconds into the match. Wuestner picked up his first two victories at the start of the day with two decisions over Riley Smith of Navy and John Barlow of Kuztown.

• Ruhnke was seeded third in the 165-pound weight class for the tournament. Ruhnke led the team with four wins and 60 total match points. Ruhnke improved his season record to 9-2. Ruhnke earned his third major decision triumph and second technical fall of the season. Ruhnke captured his 77th career victory.
• Dull picked up his eighth overall win, fifth technical fall and first pin of the season.
• Last season at this invitational, five Marauders recorded two wins.
