Indiana, Pa. – The dynamic duo of
Erica Tarsi and
Sol Ortiz-Kreiner led the Millersville University field hockey team to a road 2-0 victory over Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon. They each scored one goal and assisted the other, while
Katie Baker earned her first collegiate shutout in the cage.
The Marauders improve to 3-1 overall. Although the match was between two teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), it will not count towards conference play.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
•
Erica Tarsi opened the scoring in the ninth minute off a corner pass from
Sol Ortiz-Kreiner which she rocketed into the top right corner of the cage for her third goal of the season.
• IUP looked to get even early in the second half, but Baker managed to stop two shots within the first seven minutes of the half to keep her team ahead.
•The scored remained 1-0 until the 49th minute, when Tarsi's initial shot from the right wing was saved but was deflected to Ortiz-Kreiner on the left side who took advantage of a wide open shot to double the Millersville lead to 2-0.Â

Erica Tarsi now leads the team in assists (4), and both her and
Sol Ortiz-Kreiner are now tied for the team lead in goals (3) with
Aliza Mizak and
Nadia Berardelli.Â
• The Marauders outshot the Crimson Hawks 9-4 and held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners.
• Brianna Lubarsky fired off all four of IUP's shots.
UP NEXT
• Millersville will next host Bloomsburg on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. Similar to this match, that game will not count towards conference play even though both teams compete in the PSAC.Â
