Millersville, Pa. – Wilmington's Fredrik Bentdal stunned the Millersville University men's soccer team by scoring a game-winning goal 30 seconds into overtime to claim a 3-2 victory for the Wildcats Thursday afternoon.
COACH WIDDOWSON QUOTES
• "Overall, it was a disappointing result but a promising performance. We certainly did enough to win the game but didn't take our chances and then did a poor job of keeping possession and controlling the game. In the end, the seniority of the Wilmington squad got the advantage of our younger team but there are important lessons for us to learn in this game and it will make us better moving forward. I was very proud of the team today and I look forward to seeing how they grow through this difficult lesson."
• "
Chase Flickinger did well. He's coming back from injury so he's not 100 percent yet but today was a good step to getting him closer to 100 percent. He showed some threat and a good work rate but we know he will continue to get better as his game time increases."
• "We can never be happy when we let in three goals. We had too many times that we weren't efficient enough defensively. We need to clear our lines better and build better out of the back in transition. Having said that though, the midfield need to control the game better and the forwards need to be more clinical so there're improvements needed in all departments not just the defense".
