West Chester wins game two, softball clinches third seed in PSAC Tournament

Millersville, Pa. – In the continuation of Saturday's postponed game two against West Chester, the Millersville University softball team lost 5-0 to Sunday afternoon at Seaber Softball Stadium. The Marauders will enter the PSAC Tournament as one of the No. 3 seeds.

The Marauders end the regular season with a 23-18 (8-8 PSAC East). The Marauders will enter their second PSAC Tournament in program history, both of which have come in the last three seasons under Jen Probst. The team will face Central Division winner Lock Haven Wednesday in the first game of the double-elimination tournament.

West Chester jumped out to an early lead in game two scoring five runs in the second inning of play. Emily Maseth got it rolling as she drove in the first two runs of the inning with a two-RBI double down the left field line. The Golden Rams kept rolling with a Heidi McCollester RBI single. Bri Garber followed with an RBI single of her own. After a Madison Kelly RBI single made the score 5-0, the game had to be stopped due to heavy rain.

West Chester pitcher Brooke Harner allowed four Marauder hits and struck out eight batters. Harner picked up her second win and shutout of the season. For Millersville, Catherine Johnson took the loss after giving up all five runs in 1 2/3 innings. Brianna White entered and shut down the Golden Rams for five innings.

The PSAC Tournament is set to be held in Quakertown, Pa.
