Quakertown, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team was eliminated from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Softball Tournament two losses to Lock Haven and Indiana (Pa.) Wednesday. The Bald Eagles won 1-0 in a pitching duel, and IUP edged the Marauders with a late inning comeback, 7-6.
Millersville was making its second PSAC Tournament appearance in the last three seasons--all under the watch of head coach
Jen Probst. Millersville had never made the PSAC Tournament in its first 36 seasons as a program. The Marauders' record dropped to 23-20 overall with six consecutive losses after a nine-game winning streak.Â
Freshman
Allie Janowiak had a big part of the offense in game two by going 3 for 4. Senior pitcher
Cassidy Pinchorski broke Millersville's all-time strikeout record in the second game. Pinchorski's record-breaking strikeout occurred in the first at-bat of the game.
vs. Lock Haven
The Marauders and Lock Haven battled to a scoreless tie into the sixth inning when Lock Haven's Cassy Carpenter hit a home run to center field.
Pinchorski was sharp in a pitcher's duel with Lock Haven's Bekah Slattery. Pinchorski pitched a complete game and allowed just four hits, one run and four strikeouts. Her fourth strikeout was her 330th, tying the all-time strikeout record.
The best scoring chance for the Marauders came in the top of the third inning. Senior
Megan McCurdy started the hitting with a double to left center field. McCurdy advanced tto third when senior
Raeann Buskey hit a dribbler to the pitcher. Lock Haven, however, shut down the opportunity with a pop-up and a strikeout.
There were only six hits in the game.
Kaelyn Buskey and McCurdy had the lone two hits for the Marauders.
vs. IUP
Millersville raced to a six-run lead and held a four-run lead heading into the top of the seventh. IUP, erased that deficit with two walks, three singles and a double. A five-run inning put the Crimson Hawks on top 7-6, and it closed out Millersville in the bottom of the inning for the comeback win.Â
All of the Marauders' runs came in the bottom of the second inning when they totaled six runs with three hits. Two of the six runs came in after IUP errors.Â
Freshmen
Devan Masciulli and Janowiak singled to score one run each to take a 3-0 lead with two outs. The Crimson Hawks' third baseman bobbled the line drive hit by sophomore
Rebecca Blatt and Masciulli scored. With bases loaded,
Faith Willenbrock drew a walk, pushing Janowiak home. The second error by the third baseman allowed McCurdy to score.Â
Janowiak went 3 for 4 with one RBI.
Pinchorski allowed one run, two hits and struck out one in five innings. Freshman
Brianna White relived Pinchorski in the top of the sixth inning. White gave up three runs in the top of the seventh inning before IUP scored two off of
Catherine Johnson. Johnson took the loss. IUP's Brooklyn Kotula earned the win after throwing 5 1/3 shutout innings in relief.Â

The Marauders will wait to see if they qualify for the NCAA Atlantic Regional. The Marauders were ranked sixth in the most recent poll. The top eight teams--including conference championship winners--receive bids. The NCAA Selection Show is Monday, May 7 at 10 a.m.
