Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team claimed the season sweep of Kutztown Friday afternoon. The game one win came down to the last pitch, but the Marauders squeaked out a 5-4 victory. The Marauders won game two 12-4 behind freshman
Faith Willenbrock and the Millersville lineup.
The Marauders extended their winning streak to seven games and now boast a 21-14 overall record and an 8-4 PSAC East record. The Golden Bears dropped to 12-19 (1-11) on the season.
Willenbrock went 5 for 7 on the day, hitting two home runs with five RBIs and four runs. Willenbrock has hit a home run in each of the last three games. Junior
Maggie Murphy combined for a 4 for 6 day recording hits in all three at bats in game two.
Millersville can now clinch a berth to the PSAC Tournament with a win at Shippensburg on Friday, April 27, or with an East Stroudsburg loss to West Chester on Saturday, April 21.
Game One
With the game tied at 2-2, sophomore
Rebecca Blatt hit her second double of the game, bringing in freshman
Allie Janowiak for a 3-2 lead. On two back-to-back pitches, Blatt advanced a base on a wild pitches to put Millersville up 4-2. Willenbrock, the PSAC's home run leader, hit a home run to right center, creating Millersville largest lead of the game.
The Golden Bears rallied in the sixth and seventh innings but could not get the one more run needed to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning. The last chance for the Golden Bears started with Sara Keeny tripling down the right field line. Tamara Jennings grounded to second baseman while Keeny ran home and scored. Bridget Newman doubled. Alyssa Donato singled to put baserunners on second and third with two outs. Millersville pitcher
Emma Bevard and the defense, however, escaped the jam and held on for the win.
Blatt's two hits were doubles and both drove in runs. Blatt and Willenbrock both had two RBIs in the game. Blatt improved her batting average to .394 and recorded her 12th double of the season.
Senior pitcher
Cassidy Pinchorski recorded six innings pitched, giving up eight hits, striking out two and allowing three runs. Bevard relieved Pinchorski in her one inning pitching performance to earn the save. Pinchorski claimed her seventh win of the season. Bevard picked up her second save of the season.

Sam Waldman hit a walk-off single, scoring
Mariah Ford in the bottom of the sixth inning, polishing off a 12-4 victory. Also as part of the sixth inning, Willenbrock ripped her second home run of the day to left center, bringing her season total to 13.

Raeann Buskey had singles that scored one run each. Freshman
Allie Janowiak had a two-run double to make the score 5-0. Willenbrock ended the scoring streak by singling to center field and driving in Janowiak.
Willenbrock and Murphy had hits in all of their at bats. Five Marauders had two or more hits in the game.
Freshman
Catherine Johnson claimed her eighth win and her seventh complete game of the season. Johnson struck out four batters and allowed four runs and one walk.
