Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team extended its winning streak to nine games with a sweep at Bloomsburg Tuesday afternoon. The Marauders dominated game one by winning 14-2 and then secured a 5-2 victory in game two.
The team had double-digit hits in both games to combine for 27 on the day. Millersville improved its overall record to 23-14.
Freshman
Faith Willenbrock utilized her power to extend her hitting streak to nine games. Willenbrock went 3 for 8 on the day with a home run in game two. Sophomore
Rebecca Blatt added to the offensive power by going 3 for 8 on the day with a home run and a triple in game one. Senior
Kaelyn Buskey has reached base in the last 10 consecutive games as she went 3 for 6 with a double in each game.
Game One
The Marauders' brought out the offensive power in game one with a seven-run top of the third inning. Willenbrock put a bunt down the first base line to score Blatt and give Millersville 5-0 lead. Later, senior
Megan McCurdy hit a grounder to second baseman to score Willenbrock. Two more scored on a Bloomsburg error, and the freshman duo of
Allie Janowiak and Devan Mascuilli singled to score three more for an 11-0 Millersville lead.
The Marauders had three home runs in the game. Three at-bats into the game, Blatt homered to left field. Later in the inning, junior
Maggie Murphy hit her own home run to left field to earn an early 3-0 lead. Pinch hitter sophomore
Macy Koontz hit a three-run home run to left field in top of the fifth to widen the lead to 14-1.
Masciulli drove in two runs while going 3 for 4. Blatt and Murphy went 2 for 4.
Senior pitcher
Cassidy Pinchorski collected her eighth win of the season in four inning pitched. Pinchorski gave up four hits, one run and four walks. She struck out two batters. Sophomore
Paige Harris pitched the last inning in which she allowed one hit and one run.
Game Two
The game was tied 1-1 until the top of the sixth inning when Willenbrock hit a home run to right center field. Willenbrock hit her 14th home run of the season and recorded her fourth home run in the last five games. Later in the inning, pinch runner Burke scored on a wild pitch for a 3-1 lead. Junior
Morgan Almodovar and Masciulli singled to right field, bringing in the Buskey twins. That burst gave Millersville a four-run lead.
Millersville's first run came in the third when Janowiak singled through the right side to score R. Buskey. Bridget Casey answered Millersville's third inning with a home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth.
Almodovar, Janowiak, Masciulli, Willenbrock and R. Buskey had two hits.
Freshman pitcher
Catherine Johnson improved to 9-8 on the season with four innings pitched. Johnson allowed four hits, one run and two walks. Sophomore
Emma Bevard came into the game in the fifth inning to finish the game and earn her third save of the season.

The Marauders have two big PSAC East matchups against Shippensburg and West Chester this weekend that will determine the seeding of the PSAC Softball Championship. First, Millersville travels to Shippensburg on Friday, April 27.
