GAME NOTES
• After falling out of the national rankings, Millersville is looking to get back in with a win over nationally-ranked No. 22 Lock Haven. A win against the Bald Eagles would also end the two-game losing streak that the Marauders experienced over the weekend.
• Millersville lost a difficult one-score game at No. 14 East Stroudsburg on Friday before falling at home to conference upstart Bloomsburg on Sunday.
• As Millersville enters the halfway point of the season, every win against a PSAC opponent is critical, and a win against Lock Haven would jumpstart Millersville's push to get back in the PSAC playoffs.
• Senior
Kristen Butzner facilitates the offense from behind the opponent's goal. Her ability to feed the ball to players cutting towards the goal was critical to Millersville scoring the most goals in the conference so far this season. She currently sits at 32 assists this season which ranks second in the PSAC. Butzner's two assists against Bloomsburg also tied her season total with Abby Mack who set the single-season assist record with 32 assists back in 2016.
• Millersville's goal-scoring trident of seniors
Sabrina Fusco and
Callie Kavanaugh, and sophomore
Sarah Leverentz will need to make the most of their shots against Lock Haven's defense. The trio combined for 69 goals and 87 points in the first half of the season. Their ability to cut towards the goal and draw fouls from defenders has yielded 17 combined goals from the free-position.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
• No. 22 Lock Haven was picked to finish tied for sixth in the PSAC preseason poll. Currently, the team sits fourth in the conference as one of the, only four, PSAC teams with undefeated conference records.
• The last time the two teams played, Millersville fell at Lock Haven 18-7 in the penultimate game of Millersville's 2017 season. The Bald Eagles put together five multi-goal scoring streaks during the game to end Millersville's 2017 playoff hopes. Fusco and Kavanaugh led the way for the Marauders with a combined six points.
• This season, Lock Haven's offense is flying high and outscoring its opponents 118-68. The team has scored the second-most goals in the conference behind Millersville, and ranks fourth in the conference with a 7.1 scoring margin.
• Hayley Kilian powers the offense with 37 assists and seven goals on the season. Kilian leads the Bald Eagles and the conference in points and assists. Disrupting her passing lanes will be critical in securing a win.
