
Wildonger, Fetterman and Warner place at the Messiah Open

Grantham, Pa. – Sophomore Aaron Wildonger (125) placed second, junior Jared Fetterman (197) finished sixth and sophomore Caleb Warner (285) earned eighth place at the Messiah Open Saturday.
Wildonger started his day by picking up a pin in 5:17 against Brendan McDonough. In the next round, Wildonger set down Ryan Ressler early with a 44 second pin to move into the championship semifinal. Wildonger won 15-6 major decision against Alex Salas of Drexel to advance to the 125-pound final. Wildonger could not come up with a win against Jacob Falleni of TCNJ, losing a 15-0 technical fall.
At 197, Fetterman recorded a 3-3 day. Fetterman pinned Kevin Morgans of Cortland when the final buzzer stopped at the seven minute mark. Fetterman advanced to the championship quarterfinals by beating Alex Hicks of Liberty in a 16-12 decision win. Fetterman received a medical forfeit to advance into the 197-pound semifinal. Fetterman lost 14-4 major decision in the championship semifinal against David-Brian Whisler of Maryland. Fetterman moved to the consolation semifinal where he faced Daniel D'Agostini of University of Scranton for fifth place. D'Agostini won by fall over Fetterman, a minute into the match. With that loss, Fetterman moved to the fifth place match when he battled Hunter Goulart of Ferrum. Goulart won by 12-4 major decision.
Freshman Kevin Constantine went 2-2, ending his day in fourth consolation round. Constantine went down quick in his first match, falling by pin in 55 seconds. With the loss in the championship bracket, Constantine moved to the consolation second round where he earned a medical forfeit. In the third round of the consolation bracket, Constantine earned his second fall of his college career by pinning Brooks Robinson of host Messiah College at the 1:20 mark. Constantine earned a spot into the fourth consolation round but went down in a 23-4 technical fall in the second period against Matt Darok of Messiah to end his day.
Parker Fox of Franklin & Marshall beat Warner in the first round of the championship bracket. Warner moved to the consolation bracket where he pinned Dennis Dressel of TCNJ with seven seconds left. Warner recorded his second pin of the day against Marc Castrillon of Rowan University with 59 seconds left. Warner advanced to the fourth round of the consolation bracket. Warner reached quarterfinal consolation round by a 2-0 decision over Dan Kiser of Messiah. John Shorter of York (Pa.) got a 17-0 technical fall victory over Warner, and Warner lost to Nathan Feyrer in double overtime, 8-5.
Regular starters Alex Baider, Seth Decker, Colton Dull, Evan Morrill, Kyle Narber, Shane Ruhnke and Zachary Yackenchick did not participate in the tournament.
The Marauders set their eyes on the last PSAC conference match of the season against Kutztown. The match is Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
