Bloomsburg, Pa. - The game tied and 6:39 left on the clock, Bloomsburg's Hashim Moore made back-to-back baskets and the Huskies never looked back, defeating visiting Millersville, 89-78 Saturday afternoon.
Bloomsburg (14-9, 10-9 PSAC0 outscored Millersville (9-16, 7-12 PSAC) 23-12 in the last 6:39, and the real difference late came on the offensive glass. From the eight-minute mark to just over two minutes remaining, Bloomburg had eight offensive possessions. Five times Millersville made an initial stop only to have a Husky grab the offensive rebound and eventually score points. Bloomsburg scored only 11 second chance points in the game, and every single one of those came in the final eight minutes.
Bloomsburg held only a 36-31 edge in rebounding and the teams had the same number of offensive rebounds (11). But over the final seven minutes, Millersville did not grab a single defensive rebound and was out-rebounded 11-1.
Marcus Adkison led Millersville with 19 points, four steals and four assists.
Caden Najdawi scored 16 points with seven rebounds and three steals. Kyle-Michael Rose tallied 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Huskies. Christian Mortellite scored 21 hitting 4 of 5 from three. Hashim Moore led all scorers with 22.
The game featured 12 lead changes and seven ties, and neither squad led by more than six during the first 36 minutes of action. Marauder
James Sullivan hit a jumper from the elbow with 6:39 to go, tying the game at 66-66. From there, however, Bloomsburg went on a 12-4 run, making six of its next eight shots. Millersville took just three shots in the same stretch. Bloomsburg took twice as many shots as Millersville over the last seven minutes.
Millersville travels to Kutztown on Feb. 14.
