Kutztown, Pa. - Millersville played right with Kutztown for the first 27 minutes of action, but that's when the Marauders' offense went cold. Over the final 13 minutes, the Marauders shot just 6 of 20, resulting in a 95-81 loss.
After shooting 56.7 percent from the field and making 6 of 8 threes in the first half, Millersville shot just 12 of 30 and made only 4 of 12 threes in the second. And while the Marauders' offense struggled, the Kutztown offense clicked. The Golden Bears made 64.0 percent of their second-half shots.
Millersville, which led Kutztown 45-44 lead at the half, has led at halftime 17 times this season despite its 9-17 (7-13 PSAC) record.
Marcus Adkison scored 29 points but 19 of those came in the first half. After a red-hot start, Adkison shot 2 of 7 in the second without a 3-pointer made.
Conrad Chambers made 4 of 6 threes for 14 points, and senior
Jordan Greene added 18 on 7 of 12 shooting.
With just over 14 minutes to play, Greene hit a 3-pointer,
Caden Najdawi dunked for two, and Adkison drove for two more, capping a 7-0 run, tying the game at 58-58. Kutztown, however, went on a 9-2 run over the next three minutes, hitting seven foul shots while attempting just two shots from the field.
Kutztown outscored the Marauders 37-23 in the final 13 minutes.
Ethan Ridgeway led Kutztown with a double-double of 26 points and 10 assists.
Kutztown (18-5, 14-5 PSAC) remains 1 1/2 games out of first place in the PSAC East. With Lock Haven's loss at West Chester, Millersville is 1 1/2 games up on Lock Haven for the No. 6 seed. The Marauders can clinch a playoff spot with a win over Lock Haven Saturday.
