No. 23 Kutztown too much for Marauders on Senior Day

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville jumped out to a 10-7 lead on No. 23 Kutztown, but a blocked punt returned for a touchdown in early in the second quarter turned the tide. Kutztown scored 55 unanswered points and pulled away for a 62-10 win, improving its record to 8-1 (6-1 PSAC).

Kutztown entered the game ranked in the top three in the PSAC in scoring, total offense, rushing offense and passing offense, yet Millersville forced the Golden Bears into a three-and-out on the first drive and turned the visitors over on downs on the second drive. Millersville jumped out to a 7-0 lead with some trickery. Wide receiver Evan Morrill completed a 27-yard pass--his second TD toss of the season--to Phil Overton for a 7-0 lead. After a Kutztown score tied the game, Joey Farley booted a 35-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the first quarter.

On Millersville's first drive of the second quarter, however, Tyler Reiman's punt was blocked by Cody Scherer and Majid Abdur-Rahman scooped up the bouncing ball and raced 25 yards for a 14-10 lead. Kutztown scored touchdowns on its next two offensive possessions and answered a Trejon Dinkins interception with a Tajier Jefferson pick six. Kutztown kept rolling in the third, scoring on its first two possessions in the third quarter.

Kutztown's Eric Nickel filled in admirably for starter Collin DiGalbo, who sat out with an injury. Nickel rushed 17 times for 141 yards and a touchdown while also completing 19 of 31 passes for 182 yards and four touchdowns. Each of his four TD passes went to a different player.

Millersville's Justis Jacobs made his first career start in his final home game as a Marauder. He went 23 for 45 for 194 and an interception. He also rushed for 24 yards. Drew Schwindenhammer made a career-high five catches.

Kutztown finished with 289 yards rushing, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and totaled 471 yards--four yards under its season average.
