
Five Marauders qualify for PSACs at F&M Invitational

Lancaster, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming squad finished in 12th place in the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Sunday. Five Marauders qualified for a spot in February's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
Freshman duo Maddie Stoner and Alexis Bowen qualified for their first conference championships this weekend. Stoner swam a 25.71 in the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay. That relay team finished in 10th. Bowen earned a 13th-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:12.89.
Junior Madisson Cartmill qualified for her third PSAC Championships in the 400-yard individual medley prelims, finishing with a time of 4:52.78. That time put her in the finals where she earned a top-10 finish with a time of 4:48.99, recording a new team best. Cartmill added a 13th-place finish to her weekend in the 100-yard backstroke final with a time of 1:01.05. In the 200-yard backstroke finals, Cartmill placed 19th, three seconds faster than her prelim time.
Amanda Wetzler touched the wall in the 100-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 1:00.00, punching her ticket to the PSAC Championships. Her prelim time was inside the top 24 which qualified her for the finals where she earned a sixth-place finish (1:00.57). Wetzler finished in 13th place in the 50-yard freestyle final with a time of 25.15.
With an 18th-place finish, sophomore Alexis Shollenberger broke the PSAC time standard in the 100-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 1:01.88, qualifying her into the conference championships. In that event's final, Shollenberger was three seconds slower than her prelim time to place 24th. In the final of the 200-yard backstroke, Shollenberger finished in 16th with a time of 2:13.39 but was one second slower than her prelim time.
In the 200-yard butterfly prelims, junior Judith Miller recorded a new team best with a time of 2:23.06. In that same prelim event, Rylan Tepe posted a time of 2:26.57.
UP NEXT
The Marauders have a two month break until the next competition in Boca Raton, Fla. The team competes in a dual meet against Lynn University on Saturday, Jan. 5. Events begins at 1 p.m.
