ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
• Millersville makes its 2018-19 Pucillo Gymnasium debut Wednesday against Georgian Court. It is the first-ever meeting between the programs. Millersville dropped its season opener 81-73 at Shepherd but bounced back in game two against Wheeling Jesuit, 91-71.
• Millersville went 6-8 at home last season but lost its season opener to Wilmington, 76-75. Millersville has lost two of its last three season openers but had won eight in a row prior to that.
•
Marcus Adkison was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week on Monday after averaging 23.5 points per game in the opening two games. Adkison scored 23 points with five rebounds, four assists and two steals against Shepherd. He hit 5 of 10 threes in the game. The next day, he made 8 of 12 shots including 6 of 8 from three for 24 points. He is the first Marauder since
Larry Grant in 2013 to score 20 or more in each of the first two games of the season. Adkison surpassed 1,000 career points last season, but is up to 982 in his two-plus seasons as a Marauder. His 163 3-pointers also rank him seventh all-time. If he maintains his career .412 3-point shooting percentage, he would be the first Marauder to shoot 40 percent from three in his career since Blaine Claiborne (1993-95). Adkison has scored 20 or more points in 24 of his 57 games with the Marauders.
• Several Marauders had career performances against Wheeling Jesuit.
Jamal Washington scored a career-high 15 points.
Caden Najdawi matched his career high with 19 points while also hitting three threes for the first time.
Amadou Kaba, who had made just one 3-pointer in his Millersville career entering the game, made four.
James Sullivan set new career highs in rebounds (8) and assists (7).
• Rebounding was one of the Marauders' weaknesses in 2017-18, but the Marauders out-rebounded Wheeling Jesuit by a plus-10 margin--its widest positive margin since Nov. 18, 2015, and the 41 rebounds were its most since the 2017-18 opener.
• Kaba's return to the lineup was a welcomed one for the Marauders. Kaba missed all of 2017-18 with an injury after starting 24 games in 2016-17. Kaba's 14 points against Wheeling Jesuit were his most points since Feb. 4, 2017 and the third-most he has scored as a Marauder.
• Last season, Millersville led the PSAC in minutes played by freshmen.
Justin Nwosu was the lone freshman in the starting lineup Friday and Saturday, but five other freshmen played minutes against Shepherd.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
