Liebl’s first-half strike enough to top Mercyhurst, 1-0

Erie, Pa. – In the 32nd minutes, junior Kay Liebl unleashed a game-winning strike to give the No. 22 Millersville University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, the Marauders moved to 10-2 on the season and 9-2 in conference play. The Lakers drop to 6-5-1 (4-5-1 PSAC).

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Liebl's goal began with the ball coming over the top line of the defense. A charging goalkeeper misplayed the ball. Liebl collected the loose ball and scored.
• The first-half was filled with opportunities for both the Marauders and the Lakers. Mercyhurst recorded three shots and one corner kick in the opening six minutes.
• The Marauders had a chance to break the match open in the 77th minute when senior Delaney Meadows caught the post and then immediately headed a ball that was saved.
• In the final 20 minutes, sophomore goalkeeper Erin Heimbach stopped three shots.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
• Liebl recorded her 12th goal of the season, tying her for third all-time in season goals. Liebl extended her points total to 30 which is second in program history behind Susan Kerr's 43 in 2003.
• Meadows posted a team-high six shots with three on net.
• Heimbach earned her third shutout, saving a total of seven shots. Heimbach improved her record to 6-1. Heimbach dropped her goals against average to 0.45.

NOTES
• Millersville led the shots category 17-15 while recording nine in the first half.
• The Marauders have now recorded their longest winning streak this season at four.
• The squad earned its 10th win of the season--the highest win total since 2004.
